Corporate Sustainability for Schools Programme
Being a Corporate Partner of the Corporate Sustainability for Schools Programme organized by Business Environment Council, NWS Holdings strives to promote corporate sustainability to secondary school students. The Group organized a visit to the Plant of New China Laundry Limited on 18 December 2009 for students to learn about its new green facilities and the Group's sustainability strategy.

"Stand by You" Mentorship Programme
NWS Holdings and Hong Kong Playground Association jointly organized the "Stand by You" Mentorship Programme which matches a group of problem youths with 15 volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance. Through a one-on-one mentor-mentee relationship, mentors can provide their mentees with psychological support and act as their companions.
The mentors started their training between November and December 2009. They will interact with their mentees through e-mail, telephone and gatherings, and assist each of them in accomplishing one personal goal during the programme. |

Christmas party with underprivileged children
NWSE Group co-organized with Hong Kong Christian Service an early Christmas party for underprivileged children on 12 December 2009. Through magic performances and gift presentation, the children enjoyed the festive event with the volunteers.

Fairy mentors and mentees had fun together
NWS Volunteer Alliance and Hans Andersen Club co-organized a Fairy Mentorship programme in May 2008, in which volunteers and their child mentees provide volunteer services together. The mentors and mentees joined a reunion activity and shared their experience in volunteering on 18 July 2009. Five pairs of them were awarded the Highest Service Hour Award.
On 22 August 2009, around 30 mentors and mentees attended the Balloon Twisting Workshop. Six trained volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance taught participants basic balloon twisting skills in making balloons of various shapes. Participants who benefited from the experience would apply the skills in future volunteer activities.

Introducing corporate social responsibility to Young Ambassadors
NWS Holdings held a sharing session with some 10 Young Ambassadors from the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme jointly organized by the Tourism Commission and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups on 24 July 2009. Representatives from NWS Holdings shared with the Young Ambassadors the corporate social responsibility initiatives of the Group while the Young Ambassadors also visited New China Laundry Limited to learn about the green policy through sharing and plant touring. |

Necessities collected for students
In March and April 2009, NWS Holdings collected over 1,600 hotel bathroom amenities and rain gear items from staff and donated them to Fresh Fish Traders' School, 40% of whose students come from families under the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme. The activity aimed to lessen the economic burden of the poor students and facilitate environment conservation. New China Laundry Limited also provided free laundry services for the school.
