Balloon twisting workshop

Balloon twisting workshopOn 18 August 2011, NWS Volunteer Alliance Clown Team members taught the youth balloon-twisting skills in a summer volunteer training programme held by The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society. The teenagers were encouraged to incorporate such skills into voluntary work.

Fairy mentors and mentees joined Care and Inclusion Sand Sculpturing CompetitionOn 13 August 2011, mentors and mentees of Fairy Mentorship programme, co-organized by NWS Holdings and Hans Andersen Club, teamed up for the Care and Inclusion Sand Sculpturing Competition held by Hans Andersen Club on Lamma Island to enhance communication skills between parents and children and also showed their care for each other.

HML helped the underprivileged children

During May to July 2011, HML's Congress Restaurant raised over HK$12,000 for St. James' Settlement through inviting artists to do sketches of customers. HML also collected HK$4,000 and over 1,500 pieces of stationery items to Hans Andersen Club for helping underprivileged children.

NWFB/CTB donated unclaimed vouchers to Fresh Fish Traders' SchoolIn keeping with the Group's goal of giving back to the society, NWFB/Citybus donated about 330 unclaimed vouchers to Fresh Fish Traders' School. Ning Ngar Sze, Customer Service Manager of NWFB and two of the NWS Volunteer Alliance members with highest service hours, Kwok Tsan Lam from NWFB and Chin Tak Ming from Citybus, represented the Group to present the gifts to students.

"Stand by You" Mentorship ProgrammeOn 16 July 2011, mentors and mentees of the "Stand by You" Mentorship Programme, co-organized by the Group and Hong Kong Playground Association, visited Dialogue in the Dark exhibition to experience the lives of the blind.

"Stand by You" Mentorship Programme

On 28 May 2011, mentors and mentees of the "Stand by You" Mentorship Programme co-organized by NWS Holdings and Hong Kong Playground Association carried out haircutting services and paid visits to elderly people, bringing each of them a rice dumpling and other presents as an early celebration of Dragon Boat Festival.

Mentors also shared their experiences in communicating with problem youths on 18 May 2011.

Creating Your Own Picture Book voluntary activityUnder the Creating Your Own Picture Book voluntary activity co-organized by Hip Hing and Vibro and Hans Anderson Club, 30 colleagues led 50 underprivileged children to tour across some major spots to do some sketches and create their own picture books.

Fairy Mentorship Programme

Fairy Mentorship ProgrammeNWS Volunteer Alliance and Hans Anderson Club jointly launched the Fairy Mentorship Programme in May 2008. At the volunteer award presentation ceremony held on 5 March 2011, some 20 mentors and mentees gave away nicely-twisted balloons and taught the guests how to make the balloons.

"Stand by You" Mentorship Programme

Phase two of the "Stand by You" Mentorship Programme co-organized by NWS Holdings and Hong Kong Playground Association kicked off on 5 March 2011. Fifteen pairs of mentors and mentees interacted with each other and jointly set up the goals to be accomplished in the coming year.

Heart to Heart Project

Heart to Heart ProjectAs active participants in the Heart to Heart Project, NWFF and NWFF(M) are committed to encouraging young volunteerism in local schools. On 18 January 2011, volunteers paid a visit to Hong Kong Red Cross John F. Kennedy Centre and played games with the deprived children. On the same day, NWFF hosted a dockyard visit for a group of mentally handicapped students from Mary Rose School to visit the wheel room on board and learn about the crew's work.
