Haircutting service for the elderly
Volunteers provided haircutting service for elderly residents of Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po District Elderly Community Centre, Po Leung Kuk Fong Tam Yuen Leung Health Enhancement Centre for the Senior, Care & Services Elderly Centre (North Point) and HKSKH Tsz Wan Shan Day Care Centre for the Elderly from October to November 2009.

Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations with the elderly
NWS Volunteer Alliance and YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre jointly celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival with the elderly. A visit was held on 26 September 2009 in which volunteers and their family members distributed moon cakes to the elderly. On 30 September, the Centre co-organized a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration for the elderly with NWS Volunteer Alliance for the eighth consecutive year. Over 50 volunteers joined some 170 elderly participants in the celebration through a series of performances and games at Caritas Lok Yi School in Quarry Bay. Apart from performing a comedy on the theme of family harmony, the clown volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance led all participants in a joyful singing session.
To boost family integration, the Centre held a workshop on psychology of the elderly on 29 August, with 24 members from NWS Volunteer Alliance participating.

House Improvement Scheme came to an end
Co-organized by NWS Volunteer Alliance and St. James' Settlement, the House Improvement Scheme came to an end in July 2009. A total of 31 volunteers completed the improvement works for 47 residential units in Upper Ngau Tau Kok Estate. Besides helping the elderly in need, volunteers could acquire useful techniques from the services. Some of them suggested forming a house improvement volunteer team to provide services for the elderly.

Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate "House Improvement Scheme"
NWS Volunteer Alliance co-organized a house improvement scheme
with St. James' Settlement for the elderly residents in Lower Ngau Tau Kok
Estate, which is being demolished, to carry out improvement works in their new
homes to prevent household accidents and improve their living standard.
The service started on 7 June 2009 and has lasted for around two
months. 31 volunteers assisted in floor laying and installation of fluorescent
light tubes, handrails, towel racks and hooks, etc for 34 homes.

Supermarket Shopping with Elderly
 Waihong Environmental Services
Limited recruited 38 volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance to join the
Supermarket Shopping with Elderly service organized by H.K.S.K.H Lok Man Alice
Kwok Integrated Service Centre and accompany a group of senior citizens to
purchase daily commodities at the supermarket.

Give warmth to the elderly
NWS Holdings joined the Blanket with Love campaign organized by
Ho-Sum Organisation Limited in November 2008. With over HK$20,000 donation
collected, more than 200 blankets were donated to the elderly in need. NWS
Holdings was presented with the Most Blankets Sponsored Award. An elderly visit
was arranged on 28 February 2009 for 30 volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance
to deliver the blankets to the elderly in Sham Shui Po.
