NWS Green Kindergarten Network website and TV commercial
NWS Green Kindergarten Network launches its website on 1
September 2006 as a platform of environmental education resources for
kindergartens in Hong Kong. Besides, a TV commercial is broadcast on bus TVs
when the new school term starts to publicize the importance of pre-school
environmental education.

Waste management workshop
Green Kindergarten Network organized a series of workshops for
kindergarten teachers to visit landfills in June in order to equip them with
knowledge on waste problems and waste management methods in Hong Kong. Members
of NWS Volunteer Alliance also took part in introducing waste management
information of Hong Kong.

Green Power Hike
NWS Holdings and its SBUs attained outstanding results in the
13th Green Power Hike for a Green Future. UPML won the first runner up for 50km
race and the second runner-up in the 25 km race in Property Management Cup;
NWSE Group also won the second runner-up in the 25 km race in Corporation/
Organization Cup.

Survey on environmental education
As part of the Green Kindergarten Network jointly launched by
NWS Holdings and Green Power, a survey was conducted on environmental education
in which about 300 children and 300 teachers were interviewed on how much they
know about the environment and their views towards current environmental
education in kindergartens respectively. Announced in a press conference, the
survey results revealed that some of the young children had little
understanding about natural resources and environmental problems caused in
daily lives. Nearly 50% of the kindergarten teachers pointed out their lack of
training in environmental education. These reflected the importance of
implementing environmental education in pre-school stage and providing
kindergartens with suitable teaching materials.
